Davy Beaudart (Actual) : « We are close-hauled, we go are going up North to fetch the wind shift of the first depression.» The atmosphere is “leapfrog" under a grey sky. We should stack in the middle of the afternoon (French time). We should get a Northern stream that will grow nicely between two depressions. We have a quite tough 24 hours with a cross sea. It will be a slightly faster, but also more difficult to manage. We'd love to take advantage of transitions to get join our three comrades in front, but in pure speed, it will remain hard. We'll take what we can get. We will give as much as we can until the arrival. »
Vincent Riou (Sodebo Ultim’) : « For us the situation is complicated, it is very disadvantageous to have delay, but we're still fighting and we are waiting for our turn. In front of us, we have a transition zone with light wind that will slow us down all day long and much more than our opponents. He will have to fight to stand out more quickly. Currently, we are close-hauled in 12/13 knots of wind. We had up to 25 knots this night, and now, we are getting 10 knots, and might have even less during the day. Things have not followed-up really well for us, we missed two or three opportunities and since we are struggling slightly. It was played out to not a lot during the first night, it is the life of the offshore races and the road is still long. »
Sébastien Picault (IDEC SPORT) : « We're very pleased with the departure and how the race start is looking like. We’ve put in place with Francis who comes to give us a hand and oversees everything. We have shifted slightly South compared to Macif, who is still very uncomfortable in terms of speed and we thought it was not a good idea to take a similar road. We followed our own little path. The road is still long, with small stuff to play. We're trying to keep our shift rhythms. So far, we have managed to rest correctly. Initially, it was more athletic. But now, as we are now more off the coast, we are trying to choose the best moment to trigger a manoeuvre in order to be five on the bridge. For the moment, everything is going pretty well for the boat as well as for the crew. »
